Great Adventures...

Two updates for you all!
First, "Relic" has been accepted into this year's Visions in Clay national juried exhibit in Stockton, Ca!

Details to follow after I deliver the piece.

Also, I'm on the move!
You won't hear much from me this summer. We'll be leaving California at the end of July and relocating to Portland, Oregon.

This is a very exciting move - we're looking forward to all that Portland has to offer, and I'm excited to be joining the Oregon Potters' Assn and setting up a new, larger studio. Jeff will be getting a studio for his music, and the dogs will finally have grass and a fenced yard.

It's a goal we've been working towards for a couple of years, and its hard to believe we're almost there. So stay tuned!

Adding Photography

I'm beginning to dabble in photography!
Last fall, I purchased a big girl camera (Nikon D3100) and have been finding my way around it.
I'm particularly interested in night sky, landscape and astrophotography.
You can purchase my successes at here, in a variety of formats.

LCAC Spring Show 2014

If you're in northern California, this coming April may be one of the last chances you'll have to view my art locally (at least for a while).

With our impending move to the Portland, Or area, I'm having to gather up all my pieces and get them packed up for the move.

My last public show before the move will be the 2014 LCAC Spring Show, into which I've had 3 pieces accepted.

The weekend of April 12 and 13 you'll be able to view and purchase "Galaxy Song", "Egret and Snake" and "Sky Pointing" at the Woodbridge by Robert Mondavi Winery in Lodi, Ca.
For more information, visit the Lodi Community Art Center's website:
I'll be attending Sunday - hope to see you there!

New Works Showing in March

Vessel
Feast For The Eyes was a success!
"Vessel", along with 2 other large pieces and several masks from the 30 Sheep Project are on the move and will spend the month of March at Lodi Community Arts Center's new gallery!

The piece was brimming with viewer participation when I picked him up - lots of comments, some wise, some bitter, many juvenile.

You can have a look at the comments at "Vessel"'s Instagram page and check back to see what the viewers in Lodi have to add.

Along with "Vessel, some sheep masks and a few Lint feeders, I also delivered 2 more sculptures to the exhibit.
Blind Faith
You'll be able to see "Blind Faith' which exhibited in the 2013 Visions in Clay show at the LH

I have to say, to date, I think I'm most proud of Blind Faith and its a piece I'll have a hard time parting with.
Horton Jr Gallery in Stockton, Ca, as well as a piece I've had under wraps for a bit - "American Grrl".

"American Grrl" was my first venture into the human form, and into large sculpture.
Originally, she was meant to be half of a larger piece, but honestly, my skills and voice have changed a bit since she began, and I think she stands well on her own.
American Grrl

As with most of my pieces, you can see/follow the building process on my FaceBook page'
https://www.facebook.com/TheSquarePeg
So, that's March.
I've entered 3 pieces in this year's LCAC Spring Show, and will post when I hear f they are accepted or now.

After that, things will be quiet for a while.
We've listed our house and hope to have it sold in the next few weeks, and will be relocating to Portland Oregon!
Much of the house and studio are already packed, and I won't really be able to work till we're moved, but once we relocate, I'll have a larger studio, including a small gallery, and be in a much more vibrant art community. My husband will have a music studio, and hopefully we'll have more social time. Stay tuned - it should be exciting.
Meanwhile, I'm writing down the ideas that keep popping into my head and itching to get muddy!
